userdb_anonymous

Allows anyone to login using just an email address as password (should
work with any ["auth_query"] user interface). Automatically grants ring
level 2 permission, if it detects an address in the HTTP From: header
field.

You cannot modify the ProtectedMode file, but anyhow any ideas or suggestion should as usually get filed on BugReports, UserSuggestions or even better the ProtectedMode.Discussion.
